Mashed Potatoes — While corn and pumpkin were part of the 1621 harvest feast shared by the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag, potatoes hadn’t yet arrived from South America. The concept of creamy mashed potatoes didn’t exist in early colonial America, so the table was filled with roasted fowl, venison, and native vegetables instead!
